The Displaced

These sculptures were made to express the idea of ongoing life after destructive events. The pieces in this gallery are made from the remnants of my old house,  damaged by hurricane sandy. I didn't want to hide the inherent destruction from the storm, instead use the materials to demonstrate finding balance in spite of, and because of damage that has occurred. The pieces are constructed using gravity and the interlocking of objects. I  studied movement and composition when forming these pieces in order to have them quietly settle into themselves and stand on their own.
